All of our AutumnWOOD Doors are constructed
from SOLID wood in the the tried and true Rail &
Stile construction. This allows the door to remain solid
even if you get a little expansion or contraction in
the door over time.
All of the insert panels are "floated"
into the rails & stiles. In this joint, we place
small rubber balls called "space balls" that
allow this panel to float. This means that again, if
moisture is to cause any expansion or contraction, the
door stays together.
It is important to note that we use Butcher Block style
wood for everything except interior pine or alder rails
and stiles. Butcher Block is just as the name says -
it looks like a butcher block cutting board. This is
where pieces of wood are cut into strips and face glued
together. This creates random lengths of wood that show
off the edge grains of the woods. This butcher block
style creates a very strong piece of wood that also
removes the stress from the wood - it is less likely
to bow or twist when it is glued in this manner.
All Interior Doors' Rails & Stiles will be 1-3/8"
thick.
With Pine or Alder interior doors, the rails and stiles
are made from solid stock. With Oak or Maple interior
doors, the rails and stiles are made from solid Butcher
Block stock.
On any carved series door the insert panel will be a
full 1-3/8" thick. On any Builders' Series door
the insert panel will be 5/8" thick.
All Exterior Doors' Rails & Stiles will be 1-3/4"
thick, solid Butcher Block. On any carved series door
the insert panel will be a full 1-3/4" thick. On
any Builder's Series door the insert panel will be 3/4"
thick.
All of our interior doors feature 1/4" Laminated
Safety glass. Unless otherwise noted, all exterior doors
are priced with the same 1/4" Laminated Safety
glass. You may upgrade any door to 1/2" Insulated
Glass for an additional charge.
Other than the stained and leaded
glass doors, all glass is clear. We have different obscured
and tinted glass options that are quoted as needed.
The stained glass colors shown on
the website are only representations as there is no
web standard for color matching. Please look at a printed
catalog for the best representations.
